Gua Sha Facial

What Is Gua Sha?

Originating from traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), ‘Gua’ means to scrape and ‘Sha’ means to stagnant blood/energy. In treatments, a stone is scraped across the skin to improve energy flow (Qi), stimulate the lymphatic system and promote natural healing.

Reena has had the privilege of training with Francesca Canzano-Franklin, a Chinese Medicine Practitioner and the founder of Philosophia Botanica. She is trained in the ancient knowledge of Face Mapping whereby the skin reveals a deeper connection to the body based on TCM. All these elements are considered throughout the treatment.

Benefits of Gua Sha

  • Helps with lymphatic flow (and this is what it has become most famous for in recent western times)

  • Improvement in skin (fine lines, wrinkles, texture, conditions) because energy (Qi) is flowing better through meridians and our lymphatic system is able to clear waste and toxins more efficiently

  • Helps to sculpt, tone and de-stress neck and facial muscles. This is achieved once Qi flow and lymphatic drainage have been correctly addressed.
